After US and Japan, Germany Now Wants to Establish a Car Factory in Cambodia

PHNOM PENH: Prime Minister Hun Sen has shared that German investors expressed an interest in opening their own car manufacturing plant in Cambodia, during his meeting with the German President and a German business delegation in mid-February.

The Prime Minister said he welcomed this intention because it is in Cambodia’s policy of attracting high-tech industries to the country. To drive this policy, he said the most important thing is having technicians that can meet the needs of investors.

"I would like to say that the policy framework on the industrial sector requires technicians," he said.

Currently, there are two well-known car manufacturers that have opened plants in Cambodia, including Hyundai from the Republic of South Korea and Ford from the United States. Meanwhile, Japanese manufacturer, Toyota, has already stated its plan to open a factory in Cambodia.
